Selection Guide by Test Object

IR FPA Detector Testing: If you need to evaluate detector chip or focal plane parameters such as responsivity, noise, NETD, non-uniformity, blind pixel rate, crosstalk, FPN, pixel spectral response, etc., select the IRDT IR FPA Detector Test System. Suitable for component-level performance testing and material evaluation.

Thermal Imager Whole-System Testing: If you need to test the image quality of complete thermal imagers, including NETD, minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD), minimum detectable temperature difference (MDTD), modulation transfer function (MTF), optical axis alignment, distortion, radiometric response, etc., select the IRCM Series Thermal Imager Comprehensive Test Equipment. Supports MWIR, LWIR, and SWIR complete system evaluation.

Radiometric Calibration and Uniformity Correction: If you need a stable infrared radiation source for detector process testing, thermal imager performance evaluation, or imaging system uniformity correction, select the IBBE Series High-Precision Area Blackbody. Available in multiple radiating surface sizes (e.g., 100mm, 200mm, 300mm, etc.) to suit different test scenarios.

Calibration and Targets: For MRTD/MTF calibration with a collimator, custom IR test targets offer precision machining, etching, and laser cutting processes, with high-emissivity coating on the front and high-reflectivity metal surface on the back.

For example, use an IBBE blackbody as the radiation source, combined with targets and a collimator, then use the IRCM to test the thermal imager, and finally use the IRDT to test detector performance. FAQ

How to choose between a detector test system and a thermal imager test system?
If the test object is an FPA detector chip (bare die or packaged), use the IRDT Detector Test System; if the test object is a complete thermal imager with integrated optics, use the IRCM Comprehensive Test Equipment. The parameters tested are different and not interchangeable.
How to select the radiating surface size of an area blackbody?
The IBBE series offers models such as IBBE-100A/D, IBBE-200A/D, IBBE-300A/D (100mm, 200mm, 300mm area sources). The specific size selection depends on the aperture and distance of the unit under test. Larger radiating surfaces cover a wider field of view, suitable for large-aperture optics or array detectors. Can custom test targets be used with the IRCM system?
Yes. Custom targets are often used with a collimator for MRTD/MTF calibration in the IRCM system. The target features a high-emissivity coating on the front for uniform infrared background and a high-reflectivity back to minimize stray light.
